THE PRE-TAPER FOR
an antipsychotic medication has changed more than any other
medication type with recent scientific breakthroughs at
The Road Back. The
amount of nutritional supplements required has continued to
drop dramatically with these discoveries and the ease a
person can now get off an antipsychotic has dramatically
Antipsychotics disrupt additional balances within the body
and the drug created conditions need to be addressed. In the
past years, antipsychotics were only prescribed for
schizophrenia, bipolar, psychosis and extreme mental
disturbances, but that is no longer the case. This edition
of the book includes the recent breakthroughs that
dramatically reduce the side effects and major symptoms
associated with antipsychotic medication as well as the
normal mental symptoms people may be experiencing that might
prompt a physician to prescribe this class of medication
Starting Your Pre-Taper
Now is the time to take a deep breath and relax. You may
have suffered greatly from the medication in the past and
you may be suffering from what appears to be side effects
that will never go away. There is hope and there is a
solution. Your body will be going through some changes
during the pre-taper and those changes are positive changes.
Your life is about to change for the better.
If you need assistance from a parent or a trusted friend,
give them this book and have them work with you and help you
through the daily procedures.
Your physician should also be supportive as well.
What to do:
Consult with your prescribing physician and/or
pharmacist and layout
Plan out the second and third reduction of the
medication as well at this point to ensure you are ready
with the correct dosages of the drug.
Once you have read all of the pre-taper section proceed
to Chapter 16, “How to Taper Antipsychotic Medication”
and fully read it as well.
For the next 7-days you will be doing your pre-taper. You do
not reduce your medication during the pre-taper, but, to
state again, this is the time to also plan out the reduction
phase of the drug which starts after the seven days of the
pre-taper are completed.
Goal of Pre-Taper:
Supplements you will take:
Neuro Endure Mini
Omega 3 Supreme TG
Body Calm Daytime Relief
Body Calm Supreme, either with or without melatonin
– Take 2 of the JNK Capsules in the mid-morning, 2 more at
noon and 2 more capsules around 6pm.
Neuro Endure Mini –
Start with 1 tablet in the morning. Take the next tablet 5
hours later and a 3rd tablet 5 hours after the
After 7 days of taking 1 tablet, you can increase to 2
tablets 3 times a day if a positive change has not
happened yet. Increase by 1 tablet every 7 days until a
positive change occurs. No need to exceed more than 4
tablets 3 times a day, 5 hours apart.
Most of you will respond to only 1 tablet. When positive
change occurs do not increase further.
Omega 3 Supreme TG –
Take 1 softgel in the morning and another softgel at noon.
There is enough vitamin e in the fish oil softgel when you
are only taking two softgels a day. You will not need
additional vitamin E.
Body Calm Daytime Relief
– Take 1 capsule throughout the day and into the evening.
This should help keep the edge off. If needed, you can take
the Body calm Daytime Relief every 2 hours and as many as 2
capsules if desired. If the Body Calm Daytime Relief is
working very well for you during the daytime and you feel
completely chilled, you can try taking the Body Calm Daytime
Relief for sleep as well.
Body Calm Supreme
– Take 1 or 2 capsules 15-minutes before bedtime. You can
use the melatonin free formula or with melatonin. The
formula with melatonin is stronger.
Refer to Chapter 3, “Nutritionals Used on the Program” for
additional information about the supplements.
Make sure to keep your daily Journal and Daily Graphs. The
pre-taper is really this simple. Do the pre-taper for 7 full
days and then proceed to tapering off the medication.
