"I would like to give a heartfelt thanks to those
who set up this program and the ongoing staff who
support it. It has been a life changing experience.
I am a fifty year old IT executive. I was prescribed
medication to combat unexplained pain (Fibromyalgia
Diagnosis, 2001). My journey began in 2002, when my
pain specialist had prescribed psychoactive drugs,
narcotics and an anti-depressant. My medications as
of June, 2010, were Clonazepam, Seroquel, Ativan,
Lyrica, Flexiral, Pristiq, Fentanyl patch,
Oxycontin, Oxycocet and Cesamet. The intention was
to manage the pain, help obtain a deep sleep; but,
the effect of taking all this medication over a
eight year period was having a toll on my physical
and mental well-being.
I spiraled to the point where I attempted suicide,
quite the opposite effect of the intent of these
medications. I searched the Internet for help as I
had tried to quit some of the medication before
without success. Each time I tried to quit one of
the medications, my pain specialist would chastise
me. She refused to help me taper off medications. I
was unable to find another doctor to help due to the
long list of prescribed medications. My only other
support was my local Shoppers Drugmart Pharmacist,
Alyssa, who helped with positive re-enforcement.
I was thrilled to find the Road Back program, it has
excellent, clear, step by step procedures with
support (email replies the next day!). I decided to
taper off the non-narcotic medications by myself
with the support of the Road Back program and the
supplements from TRB. I started tapering in July of
2010, starting with Clonazepam and ending with
Pristiq in September, 2010. This was a fast taper as
I experienced some of the effects mentioned on the
site, but I chose to do this as it was a quiet time
at work. Unexpectedly, I have not increased the
narcotics despite quitting medication that was
supposed to help my pain. I am in the process of
finding a doctor to help me find alternative
solutions to the chronic pain. The amazing thing is
my health is returning, I spend more time with my
family, I've lost sixty pounds, and have more
energy. I am no longer sedating myself where I felt
there was no point in living.
It's been a full year since I started this process.
I wanted to write this testimonial on the
anniversary of my finding the Road Back program, to
show that with perseverance, dedication, it can be
done. I have not touched psychoactive medications
since September, 2010. There are times where you
will no doubt search the depths of your soul to stay
on course, but believe me, it is worth it. My focus
now is strengthening my physical being through
vitamins, supplements and healthy eating. The most
helpful supplements are a daily dose of 5000 mcg of
Biotin, 3g of EFAs and 200mg of Co-Enzyme Q10 (Ubiquinol).
Please be aware this is a long term commitment, not
a quick fix. It took nearly six months from the
starting point to where my mind was returning to
thinking clearly. With the help of the program, you
can and will come out the other side. This is an
invaluable service the Road Back staff are offering,
make the commitment today for a better quality of
life and be strong!"

"I want to thank you for your help. When I found
your site, I was a total mess. After taking
psychiatric drugs for over 20 years, and not feeling
any better, I realized it was the drugs making me
sick. None worked for long, so my doctor would cold
turkey me and put me on another. They forgot to tell
me that there would be withdraw, and some of the
medicines would actually cause you to be exactly
what they said you were. I was labeled with GAD,
major depression, bi-polar II, to name a few. It all
started in 1989 with anxiety.(just anxiety) I had
never been sick and did not know what was happening
to me. After going to many doctors, I finally broke
down and put myself in the hospital. Big mistake!!!!
They started me on the drugs and it didn't end until
I found your site. Two days ago I dropped my last
med. I came off 4. I still have a way to go, but I
feel better now then I have in years. I will never
have to hear another doctor say "If you ever get off
these drugs, you will end up in a mental hospital."
I believed that line for a long time. Thank you for
help. I pray that many more find your site and are
able to be free." Martha

to die.... So thanks for your help and support."

"When I first found your site I could hardly read
the print. I had tried to come off Effexor before
without success. Every time I got down to the 37 mg
dosage the side effects were too severe to continue
so I had to go back up again to 75. This time I made
it. Whew. I am sleeping again at night, anxiety is
gone, that gnawing agitation feeling left and I am
back. My children have a mother again and my husband
has a wife that can once again show affection."
